Quite recently a man brought his teenage daughter to see us. He explained to us that his daughter’s actions and behavior has become so erratic that he has to keep her by his side most of the time for fear that she may “snap” anytime and do crazy things. It seems in school one day, she suddenly began spitting uncontrollably at her classmates who were sitting next to her. Another day, while at home she suddenly ran out into the streets in the evening and caused havoc to the people. The police got her and they had to call the father who was at work to tell him to come get his daughter. At first, the father thought his daughter has been possessed by Jinn. He finally brought her to see the doctor, who referred the case to a psychiatrist who diagnosed her condition as a form of mental illness.
Different Forms of Mental Illness
The 3 main forms of mental illness include the following:
1. Anxiety disorders
People with anxiety disorders respond to certain objects or situations with fear and dread, as well as with physical signs of anxiety or panic, such as a rapid heartbeat and sweating. An anxiety disorder is diagnosed if the person’s response is not appropriate for the situation, if the person cannot control the response, or if the anxiety interferes with normal functioning. Anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias.
2. Mood disorders
These disorders involve persistent feelings of sadness or periods of feeling overly happy, or fluctuations from extreme happiness to extreme sadness. The most common mood disorders are depression and bipolar disorder whereby a person swings from periods of being highly energized and enthusiastic to periods of low energy and loss of motivation in life.
The lows of bipolar depression are often so debilitating that people may be unable to get out of bed. Typically, people experiencing a depressive episode have difficulty falling and staying asleep, while others sleep far more than usual. When people are depressed, even minor decisions such as what to eat for dinner can be overwhelming. They may become obsessed with feelings of loss, personal failure, guilt or helplessness.
3. Psychotic disorders
Psychotic disorders involve distorted awareness and thinking. Two of the most common symptoms of psychotic disorders are hallucinations — the experience of images or sounds that are not real, such as hearing voices — and delusions, which are false fixed beliefs that the ill person accepts as true, despite evidence to the contrary. Schizophrenia is an example of a psychotic disorder.
Psychotherapy explores thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and seeks to improve an individual’s well-being. It is the therapeutic treatment of mental illness provided by a trained mental health professional. Unfortunately, these sessions can go on and on for years without really resolving the problem.
2. Drug Medication
Conventional medical industry gives drugs to mental illness patients which helps with the management of symptoms. However, these drugs do not cure the illness. The patients have to take these medications for the rest of their life. Even after taking the medication for years, if the person forgets to take them for a couple of days, the symptoms came back to the person. In addition, they have strong and undesirable side effects.
3. Natural Remedies
Dr. Ibrahim Jaffe, the founder of Medical Spiritual Healing says, “Mental illness is caused by a rip in the mind of the person, due to a major traumatic incident which has overwhelmed the person beyond their capability.”
At HijamaHerbs, we provide emotional counseling for people with mental illness to identify the major traumatic events or events that caused the rip in the mind of the person, and help resolve it. In addition, we provide the EhsanEnergetics line of remedies which work on balancing the mental/emotional aspects of the person.
Shahclan HijamaHerbs methodology is that almost all ailments arise due to blockages. The blockages can be at the physical, emotional and sihr/jinn level. HijamaHerbs practitioners are skilled in finding where the blockages are located. When the blockages are correctly identified, then HijamaHerbs sessions are performed to clear the blockages and pull out the dirty blood. Herbs are provided to help rejuvenate the internal organs.
